Back in 2024, we wrote about the Pre-Start Checklist feature built into ConNote, our freight management system, and how it helps transport operators move away from paper-based vehicle inspections.
Pre-start checks are an important part of fleet safety and compliance, but paper forms often create their own problems: they get lost, they're difficult to store, and reviewing them later can be time-consuming.
That's why we built a simple digital checklist directly into ConNote.
Now we've taken that idea one step further.
Introducing LD PreStart Checklists
We're pleased to announce the LD PreStart Checklists app, a standalone mobile app designed for drivers and fleet operators who want a simple, digital way to complete vehicle inspections.
The goal is straightforward: replace paper pre-start forms with a practical mobile solution that works anywhere.
The app is completely free and designed to be quick and easy for drivers to use in the field.
Key Features
Vehicle Management
Store details for up to five vehicles within the app, including:
- Fleet number
- Vehicle class
- Registration
- Make and model
This allows drivers to quickly select the correct vehicle before starting their inspection.
Digital Pre-Start Checklist
The inspection includes 27 inspection points across 7 categories, covering the key checks drivers perform before heading out on the road.
If an item fails inspection, drivers can record comments directly against the checklist item, providing additional detail when needed.
Saved Checklists
Completed inspections are saved directly on the device, allowing them to be reviewed later if required.
This provides a simple digital record of vehicle inspections without needing paper files.
Email Reporting
The app can also prepare email reports of completed inspections.
Drivers simply add email addresses in the settings, and when a checklist is completed the app drafts an email with the inspection results neatly formatted and ready to send.
This makes it easy for supervisors or fleet managers to receive inspection reports without requiring complex systems or integrations.
